Does a caring attitude matter more than technical skill?

Hey everyone,

So I've been thinking about this a lot lately. We always hear how important skills and experience are in any profession, right? But I keep coming back to this idea that being caring can sometimes mean even more. Like, it’s one thing to know what you’re doing, but showing people you actually care? That hits different.

I came across this profile while doing some random browsing: link. What stood out wasn’t just the experience listed there, but the whole vibe. You can tell when someone’s work is built on real compassion, not just technical ability.

In my own experience (especially in health or pet-related stuff), the people I remember most are the ones who made me feel safe, listened to, or just... human. It’s those little moments where someone shows they actually give a damn that stick with you.

Not saying skills aren’t important—they definitely are—but it feels like empathy is the missing piece in a lot of industries now.

So yeah, just wondering what others think. Have you ever had an experience where someone’s caring attitude made the whole situation better, even if they weren’t the most "qualified"? Or do you think it’s just a nice extra, but not a must?

Curious to hear your takes on this.
